British Boer Goat Society Trustees
At this first AGM of the CIO all the committee have to stand down and if they so wish offer themselves for
re-election. The AGM paperwork will include a list of trustees who wish to be re-elected.
Within the constitution we may have up to 12 trustees and we are looking for members who would be
interested in becoming a trustee.
Anyone who wishes to apply would need to consider if they have the time to spare to take part in
committee meetings and take on shared responsibility for specific areas of the management of the society.
We particularly require trustees with an interest in managing communications and production of
The committee hold up to 12 meetings a year, usually 2 Face to Face which run for a day from 10 – 4,
normally on a Sunday, and up to 10 conference call meetings which range from 1 – 2 hours.
There are rules set by the Charity Commission which cover standards and behaviour of appointed trustees
in particular :
You must declare that you:
- are willing to act as a trustee of the BBGS
- understand your organisation’s purposes (objects) and rules set out in its governing document
- are not prevented from acting as a trustee because you:
A) have an unspent conviction for an offence involving dishonesty or deception
B) are currently declared bankrupt (or subject to bankruptcy restrictions or an interim order) or
C) have an individual voluntary arrangement (IVA) to pay off debts with creditors
D) are disqualified from being a company director
E) are subject to an order made under section 429(2) of the Insolvency Act 1986
F) have previously been removed as a trustee by us, the Scottish charity regulator or the High Court
due to misconduct or mismanagement
G)have been removed from management or control of any body under section 34(5)(e) of the
Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 (or earlier legislation)

On receipt we will then send out the relevant documentation for review.
Applications to be received by 29th August 2017 together with confirmation of members prepared to
propose and second the application as well as a short resume (no more than 300 words) describing why
you wish to become a trustee, which may be circulated with the voting papers.
